Thank you for the great response for our Lunar New Year dinner, again! Participation requests are increasing all the time, so thank you for registering early. We filled up in a day or so (and the Academy Awards are on the same afternoon so competition is stiff).
If you make a non-vegetarian entree pig or boar are our meats of choice, organic and free-range whenever possible. Jeremy introduced me to a great store called Polarica that specializes in fine foods and wild game meats. I'm passing it along to the group in case you're feeling adventurous and wish to use boar's meat. I'm going for it: I think my dish is going to be home-made fettuccine with wild boar sauce. A Tuscan classic.
Though the citrus and winter vegetables crops have been damaged by the weather, we're supporting our local farmers and will be using tangerines, clementines and oranges as our chosen fruit. For the vegetables, we opted for the seasonal ones used in some of the countries that celebrate the Lunar New Year: bok choy, chinese broccoli, napa cabbage, green beans and shitake mushrooms. The list of participants is below. All the spots are full so if you're wondering if you can bring a friend not listed here, the answer is: Sorry, maybe next time. I've had to turn down quite a few people already. If your name isn't on the list, please stay tuned for the next dinner and register early.
As participation is limited, please let us know at least four days before the dinner if you're not going to be able to make it, so we can invite someone else to join us. Emailing me on shorter notice (or not at all) is unfair to us and to the people who wanted to participate and couldn't because all the slots were taken.
Grazie,
Marco Flavio
Marco Flavio (the organizer) and Alison will be making a boar entree and...
Amélie and Björn will bring a terrine, most likely vegetarian (can count as salad), and 2 botles of good wine.
